Exercise is a fabulous way to keep our bodies flexible, strong, and functional. It gives us an ability to truly enjoy life. As we age we will all lose muscle, it's part of the body's process. Resistance training then becomes even more necessary. Why not start now? Why not be consistent now? There are a lot of times pain, injury or surgery leads us to think if we can't do____, then we can't work out. This thinking leads to inaction. We can choose to do what we know is best for us not matter what our thoughts and feelings tell us. We can take the opposite action and guess what? 99% of the time there is a shift after we chose to exercise despite our thoughts and feelings. Our fitness is more than just physical. Our mental and spiritual fitness plays a big role in our exercise/fitness journey. What do you believe about yourself? What kind of thoughts do you keep on repeat? How is your spiritual life? Do you allow your thoughts and feelings to dictate your actions? Are you actively working to break bad habit loops? Part of growing and making progress means taking action in the midst of discomfort. Discipline is not easy. Consistency can feel challenging at first. If exercises is hard for you, set a goal to do 10 min of exercise a day. Set it for one week or whatever is right for you and gradually build on this. Ensure that the goal is something you can actually accomplish. And keep slowly advancing your goal (S). Watch what happens. Making changes from our norm is uncomfortable. Choosing to do a workout when life isn't easy or you are dealing with physical limitations can feel hard. You can do hard things. I can 99% guarantee if you choose to engage in exercise you will leave feeling better in some way every time. And choosing to exercise despite everything going on, you have flexed your discipline muscle and you will get better at showing up when life is hard. There is always something you can do. Even if it's 10 minutes of exercise. This 10 min is better than no exercise. Show up for yourself today. Check in with yourself. Ask yourself if there are any bad habits you need to break? Are there thought patterns you need change? Are you at peace? No matter what is going on or how you feel, choose to show up for yourself. Choose something small you can do today to move your body! If you can't figure out what to do, reach out. Get online. There are all kinds of resources and people willing to help! You have the ability to change anything. You have the ability to show up well today. Choose to. Let there be no other option but to do so! You got this! What are you going to do? |
