On the hard days.....

Life often presents challenges and schedule changes that can throw us off of our normal routines. This will likely happen to each on of us at one point or another.

As I have walked through all the challenges and adjustments in my recovery process, it really got me thinking. Oftentimes because of changes that happen or challenges that come up, we don't have the ability to complete everything we set out to do with our health and fitness.

Whether it be fatigue, medical issues, family, friends, or work, things will come up on the journey towards better health and fitness. One thing I have learned to do when this happens is to check in with myself first and figure out where I am at. I ask myself questions like :

How am I actually feeling? Physically? Emotionally? Mentally? Spiritually?

Is there anything I need to do to honor how I am feeling? Is there an action step I can take to improve how I am feeling?

Is there anything I am holding onto that is not mine to carry? Am I taking on someone else's burden?

On the hard days, when I truly feel like I can't complete my workout program for the day, I ask myself, "What are the most important things to complete for my health, fitness, and recovery journey today?" I extend myself some grace, and follow through on the important things!

This has been a game changer on the hard days. I still show up and take action towards better health and fitness, however, I also honor where I am at and all the challenges that are surrounding me right now.

How do you handle when challenges come up or schedule changes happen?

What are some things you find helpful to stay on track and still make improvements on the hard days?

Life will never be easy, but there are so many things we can do to make it purposeful and improve our health and fitness!
