Throughout my adult life there has been a lot of discomfort, way more than I care to admit. One thing I have found is that through all the discomfort is if I am willing to take action on what I know is right despite what I feel like doing, good things eventually happen. Fitness has been a lifestyle for me since the 8th grade. I met these two awesome instructors, one taught kickboxing, the other weight training. I got really into these specific classes and they were very supportive of my fitness journey. I remember the first time I experienced muscle soreness. The soreness that causes you to have difficulty lifting and lowering yourself to a chair or toilet. I am sure y’all know what I am talking about. Through all the discomfort, training, and consistency I got in excellent shape and stayed in shape. Throughout this recovery process with all the restrictions and limitations that I have, I have gained some weight that I don’t enjoy having. I hear people tell me I look great, which is super sweet, however, I also know where I have been and I am not comfortable with the extra weight. In fact. I find myself trying to hide it at times. Some of my favorite gym clothes are snug and so I have been wearing larger clothes, which isn’t helping me lose the weight I want to. I got to thinking about what I could do that would light a fire and get me back to my favorite clothes fitting me correctly. This is where the fire was lit in my mind. Why am I contributing to the problem in this way? Why don’t I wear my favorite clothes that are snug and allow myself to be uncomfortable? Why hide under bigger clothes? Why not wear the snug ones as a reminder of what I want to accomplish? Being uncomfortable can actually be a really good thing. It can promote change and growth and lead us to reaching our goals. It can bring to light a lot of things and help us step up and do what needs to be done. What kinds of things have you allowed yourself to do that are hindering you from accomplishing your goals and/or getting healthy? Is there an area that you are allowing yourself to be comfortable? Is there something you could do to change this? How might taking action get you to where you want to be? If you aren’t sure of any of the questions before, take time to reflect and pay attention to your actions. What could happen if you changed your actions? Once you discover what’s going on, take action on it, Today! |
