Being honest with ourselves is a very important step in our health and fitness journey. A willingness to be honest with where we are at and where we want to go will assist In long term success. The health and fitness journey will have its ups and downs and periods where things seem to be going well and other periods that feel like it’s a lot more work to remain committed to the process. It is crucial that you decide what is important to you and what you want to accomplish. This will likely change as you go along on this journey. You will discover things you like and value, and what is important to you as you live it out. Staying committed to what is important to you and your goals will help guide you. Emotions and stressors will come up, this is a sure thing, but you can use your values and goals as the solid ground to guide you in the decisions you make and keep you on track in the day to day. Setting up some kind of check in with yourself and/or and another person is super helpful in the process to remain committed and change and grow along the way. For me, I do a weekly check in with myself and currently the PT that I am working with for my shoulder recovery. I choose to document my journey daily and then look at my notes weekly to see overall how things are going. It is through the process of reviewing my notes weekly that I find how I am lining up with what’s important to me and my current goals. I find doing this is very helpful to remain encouraged on this journey. It is through these weekly reviews that I get to see the progress that has been made, along with what needs improvement. It allows me to grow and learn and make progress each week in a way that supports what I am trying to accomplish. Some things to think about Have you taken time to be honest with yourself? If not, what is stopping you? Do you know what is important to you and/or what you want to accomplish in your health and fitness journey? Do you have anything set up currently to check in with yourself? Are you open to setting something up? It is important to remember that this is a journey not a destination. You can make changes anytime you want. The purpose is to learn, grow, and improve yourself and your health and fitness journey. So there is no need to be hard on yourself. It’s truly about adjusting and progressing along the way and celebrating the growth and progress that is made. I am here if you want to reply and share any of your answers or about your journey!
