If you want to be set up for long term success, it is important to take a look at your mindset and how you think about your health and fitness journey? You may have found this out already, but things don’t happen overnight. There are a lot of things out there that are offering quick fixes that are trying to deter us from the ACTUAL process it takes to improve health and fitness. In my younger years, I fell for some of the gimmicks and guess what they don’t actually work for the long term. A journey towards health and fitness is one we walk out day in and day out. It is one in which will require a lot of daily choices as well as adjustments when challenges arise. Are you willing to be in it for the long term? Are you willing to adjust your day to day choices to the ultimate goal you are trying to accomplish? Do you know what you are trying to accomplish? As I continue to walk out this painfully beautiful shoulder recovery process, I have learned so much. I am one that is always open to learning. I am a very curious human being and ask a lot of questions. Being willing to take risks and ask questions has helped me grow. Some things have definitely been way outside of my comfort zone, but this is where true growth occurs. Having a growth mindset is super important to improve your health and fitness journey for the long term. This may look like asking yourself good questions. It may involve seeking an outside source for input. Maybe they ask you questions that help you see what is keeping you in a holding pattern and not progressing. The most important thing is your willingness to be open to learn and open to adjust as you grow and change. Growth is both painful and rewarding. Without growth, there is no real progress. True change happens through discomfort, which often feels very painful in the moment. Once you make it through the discomfort/pain, the change and purposes on the other side make the discomfort/challenges well worth it. You truly will experience the change and benefits if you persevere. Action Step What kind of mindset are you working with? Are you open to learning, even if it means experiencing discomfort? Take time to reflect and figure this out, it will be well worth your time. Do one thing today to get you closer to your health and fitness goals, even if it is uncomfortable.
