Do you value YOU?

Do you value YOU?

Let’s face it, we all have bad days, and days that we feel like does anyone actually care about me? Or care about what’s going on? I have had a couple of days like this during my shoulder recovery journey. But instead of sitting in this thinking and feeling that no one really cares, I asked myself this question. “Let’s say that no one actually cares about you, would you still care about you? Would you value yourself enough to do what is necessary for your health and well being?”

My answer was a resounding yes. The day that these feelings were heavy, I chose to still get up and do everything that I could do to take care of myself. This included exercise, choosing healthy food options to get inflammation down, taking supplements and the like. Did the feelings initially change? No. But as I made choices from the place of, “I am valuable”, they did begin to change and I felt more empowered. And this empowerment only grew from there.

The older that I get, the more I value relationships and the quality of people I spend my time with. I am more selective about who I trust and allow into my life. This is because I have come to know and appreciate my value and the value that I hold in this life. When you value yourself and someone good comes into your life, you receive the person with gratitude. They become a compliment to your life. If you lose the ability to see value in yourself, which I have, life becomes more difficult (even more than it already is). It often leads to insecurity and making decisions that aren’t in your best interest. When you don’t value yourself, choices are made that don’t line up with who you really are and what you want, which can lead to a lot of other problems. Including health problems.

I bring all this up in relation to health, recovery, and fitness because a lot of why people don’t take care of themselves is because they don’t see themselves as valuable or they have a belief that they aren’t valuable. That is far from the truth. You my friends are very valuable and you are worth investing in. Investing in your health and fitness will compliment the value you already have. It will lead to longevity, strength, energy, and you will feel more empowered.

How we value and appreciate ourselves impacts how we show up in life day in and day out. This includes our exercise and eating routines. So, my question for you is, even if no one else cared or valued you, would you still value YOU? Would you still choose to take care of your health and well-being? And if the answer is no, why is this? Some food for thought for this week! :)
